It's easy to mix up the two different lengths: 1/2", and 3/8". The longer ones are necessary for certain parts of the build, so it's important to not use the two lengths interchangeably. In my first build, I was short a 1/2". So I went shopping, for one machine screw. It wasn't until the third store that I found what I needed (Happened to be Ace Hardware). Though the instructions label these machine screws as "4-40", their thread is not American, and not 40. The thread is 50. Look for international machine screws with 50 thread--those worked for me.

Found the same thing, short 2 of the 1/2" screws. Metric M3 seemed to work well, documentation is not correct.
